St Osyth Naturist Beach

The stretch of beach east of Clacton-on-Sea has long been known amongst naturists as one of Essex's few clothing-optional spots. It's a proper working beach - families in regular swimwear use it too, so there's an unofficial understanding about where everyone congregates. The sandy shore here is wide enough that different groups rarely overlap, and it's relatively quiet compared to the busier Clacton seafront.

What you get is straightforward: sea access, sand, and the kind of low-key atmosphere that appeals to people who've been doing this for decades. There's no dedicated facilities or infrastructure - no café, no changing rooms, no lifeguards. You park nearby and walk on. The beach itself stretches for a decent distance, with groynes breaking it up, and the water's the usual cold-to-chilly Essex variety.

It works best for adults and long-established naturist groups rather than families with young kids, simply because there's nothing else to do here - no arcades, no ice cream vans, nothing to occupy restless children. Keen walkers might appreciate the quieter stretch of coastline, especially outside peak season. Summer weekends draw crowds, so go early or midweek if you prefer solitude.

If you're staying at one of the nearby parks - Seawick, Hutleys, or St Osyth Beach Holiday Park are all within walking distance - it's a useful option to know about. Worth the trip if naturism is your thing, but don't expect facilities or any reason to linger beyond a few hours.
