Inside, the atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect from a working parish church - calm, a touch cold, and genuinely peaceful without any of the twee tourist polish you sometimes find elsewhere.

What makes St Nicholas worth a look isn't anything wildly dramatic. The nave is straightforward Early English, there's some decent Victorian restoration work, and if you're into that sort of thing, the monuments and brasses tell you something about who mattered locally over the centuries. Medieval folk seem to have taken their eternal rest seriously around here.

It's the kind of stop that works best if you're already in Brewood for lunch or a wander round the village - not worth a special journey on its own, frankly. History types and anyone staying at Oakland Holiday Park nearby (about 3.7 miles away) will find it a pleasant twenty-minute diversion. Kids will probably be bored unless they're genuinely into old buildings.
