St Mungo's Parish Church

The kirk sits on a slope above Clackmannan village, all weathered stone and tilted gravestones. St Mungo's goes back centuries - the sort of place where you half expect to find a Covenanter or two lurking in the shadows. You can wander round at your leisure, pushing through the heavy wooden door to find a simple, honest interior that feels properly used rather than polished for tourists.

It's a good spot for anyone interested in Scottish church history without needing to be a full-blown heritage geek. Kids won't linger long unless they're the type fascinated by old graves and carved stones, but walkers passing through the Clackmannanshire hills will find it worth a brief detour. The graveyard views down to the village are decent, especially on a clear afternoon.

There's no entry fee that we could find, and it won't take more than half an hour to nose around both inside and out. Go on a weekday morning if you want it quiet - weekends can bring the occasional service-goer.
