The nave at St Mildred's is unexpectedly light and airy for a church of this age. Built in the 12th century and sprawling across Addiscombe's quieter reaches near Warlingham, it's the sort of place that rewards wandering off the main drag. The churchyard itself is properly atmospheric - tilted gravestones, mature yews, the kind of overgrown corners where you half expect to find a marble cherub covered in moss.
