St Mary's sits quietly in Rickinghall village, just east of Diss, and it's the sort of church that rewards a proper look rather than a quick glance through the door.

Inside, the chancel has some genuinely good 15th-century work, and if you're into church architecture there's enough medieval detail to keep you occupied for half an hour. The font's worth studying too. It's the kind of place where you notice things - a carving here, a bit of original stonework there - rather than one grand showstopper.

Historically minded visitors and anyone with a taste for Norfolk and Suffolk ecclesiastical buildings will find it worthwhile. You won't need long - twenty minutes covers it properly unless you're really into tracing family connections or sketching the masonry. The village itself is small enough that you could take a short walk around after.
