St Mary & St Nicholas

The church looms over Boston's skyline like something from a medieval dream, though you'd miss it entirely if you weren't looking up. St Mary and St Nicholas is properly vast - one of those Perpendicular Gothic structures that makes you wonder how on earth people built such things without modern machinery. The interior is genuinely impressive: soaring nave, intricate roof bosses if you've got the neck stamina to stare upwards for twenty minutes, and windows that flood the whole place with light depending on the time of day.

It's brilliant for church history enthusiasts and anyone who appreciates medieval architecture. Families with patient kids will find enough carved details and stone tombs to keep them occupied for an hour or so, though it's not the sort of place where anyone's going to run around screaming. The church is free to enter, and there's no strict opening hours nonsense - you can usually find it open during daylight, though it's worth popping into Boston town centre first to check.

If you're based at Long Acres Touring Park or Waites Farm Glamping, both just a few miles out, this makes a decent rainy-day activity or a quick cultural stop between exploring the Fens. Don't go out of your way specially, but if you're in Boston anyway - which you might be while exploring the broader Lincolnshire coast - spending forty minutes inside is time well spent.
