The church sits quietly on Collier Street, a red-brick landmark that's been marking this corner of the Kent countryside for centuries. St Margaret's is one of those places you stumble upon rather than plan to visit - the kind of stop that breaks up a walk nicely if you're exploring the area around Marden.

Inside, it's fairly modest and very peaceful. The usual church features - pews, altar, some decent stained glass - but what appeals here is the sense of stillness rather than any dramatic architectural statements. It's genuinely quiet, the sort of place where you can sit for ten minutes and actually hear yourself think. Not many of those left.

This works best for history buffs doing a slow potter through Kent's villages or anyone using Tanner Farm Park as a base and fancying a gentle walk. You won't need more than half an hour here, and it's the type of visit that's better as part of something else rather than a destination in itself.

The real charm is the setting - walking the lanes around Collier Street feels properly rural, despite being well within reach of the main roads. Worth a detour if you're already in the Marden area exploring, but don't go out of your way specially.
