St Margaret of Antioch

The church sits right on the clifftop at St Margaret's Bay, just outside Dover, and the view alone is worth the visit. Inside, St Margaret of Antioch is a proper medieval parish church with some lovely Norman work if you know where to look - though honestly, most people come for the setting rather than the architecture.

It's a quick stop rather than a half-day commitment. Twenty minutes to have a look around, take in the sea views, and maybe grab a coffee at one of the cafes nearby. The church itself is small and straightforward - no fancy decoration or lengthy history tour needed. Families with young kids might find it a bit dull after ten minutes, but if you're the type who enjoys wandering into old churches while on holiday, it ticks the box.

The real advantage is location. You're staying at Parkdean Resorts St Margaret's Bay Holiday Park just down the road (under half a mile), so popping over takes no effort at all. Hawthorn Farm and Kingsdown Camping are also within easy reach if you're based there. Access is free, and there are usually no awkward opening hour restrictions - it's a working church, so pop in when you're passing.

Combine it with a clifftop walk along the white cliffs, or head into Dover town centre for more substantial attractions. On a bright day when the light hits those cliffs properly, it's rather lovely. On a grey afternoon in November? Less so.
