St Julian's Well

A small medieval well tucked into the countryside near Ludlow, St Julian's is one of those places that rewards you for taking a wrong turn. The well itself sits within a modest stone structure - nothing grand, but genuine - and it's been a spot of pilgrimage and local significance for centuries. You'll find it quietly in the landscape rather than shouting about itself, which is rather the point.

It's the sort of thing history enthusiasts genuinely enjoy: low-key, accessible, and free of the gift-shop treatment.
