St Ignatius Catholic Church, Stamford Hill

The red-brick Victorian church on Stamford Hill announces itself from the street with the kind of confident solidity you don't see much anymore. St Ignatius Catholic Church was built in the 1880s when this corner of North London was still finding its feet, and stepping inside is a proper reminder of what happens when craftsmanship meets conviction.

The interior doesn't shout for attention, but it rewards looking.
