St Gregory's Church sits on a quiet corner near Seaton, a modest stone building that doesn't announce itself loudly but rewards the detour if you're staying at Beer Head Holiday Park or Oakdown. The church itself is a decent example of Devon's religious architecture - worth a look inside if you've got twenty minutes and fancy a bit of peace and quiet away from the caravan site.

It's not the sort of place that'll keep everyone entertained for hours. Families with restless kids might find fifteen minutes is plenty; walkers and architecture enthusiasts will get more from it. The real value comes if you're building a proper afternoon out - combine it with a walk around Seaton's seafront, which is just down the road, and you've got something worthwhile.

The churchyard itself is pleasant enough for a wander, and if the door's open (which it usually is during daylight hours), stepping inside gives you that genuine Devon village church atmosphere - flagstone floors, a bit of history in the stonework, the smell of old wood and brass polish. Free admission, naturally. No facilities at the church itself, so don't rely on it for refreshments.

If you're based at either of the nearby parks and the weather's iffy, it's a decent rainy-day option. But be honest with yourself: you're not coming here for bells and whistles. You're coming because it's local, it's free, and it adds a genuine village experience to your Devon break.
