St. George's Park

You'll find St. George's Park sitting on the outskirts of Kidderminster, a proper working nature reserve rather than a manicured tourist attraction. It's the kind of place where you actually see wildlife doing its thing - birds, insects, whatever's moved in that week - rather than looking at laminated information boards about what you might have spotted if you'd been here last Tuesday.

The park itself covers a decent chunk of ground with walking trails that wind through various habitats. Bring binoculars if you're into birdwatching; leave them at home if you're just after a pleasant stroll with the dog. The wetland areas are genuinely interesting, especially in spring and autumn when migration happens. Paths are manageable underfoot, though it can get muddy after rain - wear proper walking boots.

This works best for serious nature enthusiasts and families who won't get restless after twenty minutes. Small kids might find it a bit slow unless they're the type obsessed with spotting things. Allow a couple of hours minimum if you're doing it properly.

It's free, which is brilliant, though facilities are minimal so plan accordingly. If you're camping at one of the nearby parks - Pinewood Retreat, Blackstone Meadow, or Walshes Farm are all within easy driving distance - it makes a solid morning activity to break up a quieter holiday. Close enough to Kidderminster for lunch afterwards, which saves you cooking at the caravan.
