St Faith's Church

The church sits quietly at the heart of Hayling Island, a small stone structure that's easy to walk past if you're not paying attention. St Faith's Church has been here since medieval times, though what you see today is largely Victorian restoration - the Victorians couldn't leave well enough alone, even with churches.

Inside, it's genuinely peaceful. High ceilings, proper church smell, the kind of light that comes through old glass. There's enough detail to occupy a history enthusiast for twenty minutes - some decent medieval bits have survived - but it's not the sort of place that'll keep younger kids entertained for long. Give it half an hour, maybe forty-five minutes if you're really into church architecture.

It's free to visit, which is always welcome. The island itself is fairly quiet, more family beach resort than buzzy seaside town, so a church visit slots nicely into a slower pace of days. If you're staying at The Old Dairy Farm Glamping just down the road, this is an easy walk into the village centre. Concierge Camping, a bit further out, would make it a small drive.

Honestly? It's worth popping into if you're already on the island exploring, but I wouldn't plan a trip around it. The real appeal of Hayling Island is the beaches and the cycle paths - the church is just the cultural punctuation mark that makes you feel you've actually seen the place rather than just walked the promenade.
