The churchyard at St Edward's sits quietly on the edge of Derby, and it's the sort of place you'd miss entirely if you weren't looking for it. The church itself is a proper medieval structure - all sturdy stone and pointed arches - with a tower that's been keeping watch over this bit of Derbyshire for centuries. Inside, the light comes through in odd angles, catching on old wooden pews and carved details that reward a proper look around.

It's genuinely for people who like churches as buildings rather than as performance venues. The kind of visitor who wants to sit in the quiet for ten minutes and read the plaques. History buffs will find themselves tracing the architectural details - the window tracery gives you a good sense of when different bits were added or patched up. Kids might manage twenty minutes if they're the reflective sort; if they're not, the churchyard is at least a pleasant stretch.
