Spring Wood

Spring Wood sits just outside King's Lynn and offers a proper walk through Norfolk woodland without the crowds you'd get at the more famous nature reserves. It's the sort of place where you can actually hear yourself think - paths wind through mixed woodland with enough variation to keep you interested for a decent couple of hours.

The forest floor changes as you move through it. Sections open into clearings with decent sightlines, while other bits feel properly enclosed by mature trees. It's good for families with kids old enough to manage uneven ground, though there's nothing dramatic or thrilling here - this is gentle rambling territory. Birdwatchers might find reason to linger, particularly if you go early when things are quieter. The woodland itself has that satisfying Norfolk character - you're not far from the flat agricultural landscape beyond the tree line, but in here it feels like a proper retreat.

Given the proximity to King's Lynn and the string of caravan sites nearby - Kings Lynn Caravan & Camping Park is barely three miles away, with Sandringham Camping and Caravanning Club Site and Pinecones both within five miles - Spring Wood works well as a half-day break from a park-based holiday. You're not talking about a full day's outing, but as a morning walk before lunch or an afternoon stretch of the legs, it slots in nicely. Ground can be muddy after rain, so go prepared. No facilities that I'm aware of, so bring water and don't expect anywhere to grab a coffee when you're done.
