Source of Wye view

The view across the Wye valley from up here stops you mid-walk. You're standing at the source itself - where this famous river begins its long journey toward the Severn - and the perspective is properly humbling. The landscape rolls away in all directions, green and folded, with the Cardigan Bay glinting somewhere in the distance if the weather's clear.

It's the kind of spot that rewards walkers more than casual visitors. Getting here means leaving the car behind and doing some proper legwork from Aberystwyth, so this isn't a "pop in for twenty minutes" sort of place. Most people allow a couple of hours for the walk and the lingering. The payoff is genuine - no crowds, no facilities, just you and the scale of the Welsh hills.

Families with older kids will manage it fine; younger children might find the approach tedious. If you're staying at one of the nearby campsites - Forester's Retreat Glamping or Glangwy Farm Camping are both excellent - this makes a proper morning or afternoon expedition. The walk itself winds through quiet country that feels genuinely remote despite being within reach of Aberystwyth.

There's no entrance fee or facilities at the viewpoint itself. Come early to avoid what little foot traffic there is, and time it for decent visibility. The Cardigan Bay views are the real bonus on a clear day.
