About Slouch Hill
From the summit you get proper views down to Huntly itself and across the rolling agricultural land beyond. On a clear day it's worth the effort; on a grey one, less so. The hill works best if you're already based in the area - there's no reason to drive all the way from Aberdeen just for this alone. Walkers of moderate fitness will manage it fine. Kids who are keen on hills and don't need a dramatic payoff at the end will be alright with it too.
If you're staying at Huntly Castle Holiday Park - a solid enough spot, five miles away - you could knock this out as a half-day excursion. Combine it with a proper look around Huntly itself afterwards, maybe the castle if it's open, and you've got a decent day. The walk is free, of course, and you can do it in any season, though winter bog can be a bit grim. Allow three to four hours for the round trip if you're taking your time.
