Spring is pleasant too, though you'll want to visit early morning when the light is best and birdlife most active.

Wisbech sits nearby and has reasonable facilities if you need a cup of tea afterwards. Several parks cluster within six miles - Parklands Holidays and Laurel Park Campsite both rate highly - making it feasible to base yourself for a proper wetland weekend. You could easily combine the lighthouse with walks along the Nene Washes or other local nature reserves.
