Shrawley Woods

The woods around Shrawley, just outside Droitwich, are proper walking territory. Ancient oaks and beech trees line well-trodden paths that locals have been using for decades, and the whole place has that undisturbed feeling you don't get in managed country parks. It's genuine woodland rather than a manicured attraction - no visitor centre, no interpretive boards, just trees and paths.

Walkers will absolutely love it here. The terrain isn't demanding, but there's enough variety to keep you engaged for a couple of hours. You'll pick your own route through the trees, stumble across a clearing, maybe spot bluebells if you time it right in spring. It's the kind of place where you can actually hear yourself think. Families with kids old enough to manage muddy boots will find it decent too, though younger children might find the lack of specific "attractions" a bit boring.

Getting there is straightforward from Droitwich - it's on your doorstep really. Since it's open woodland, there's no gate, no admission charge, no set hours. Come when it suits you, though mornings tend to be quieter. Allow two hours for a proper wander, less if you're just popping in for a quick walk between park visits.

Stay at one of the nearby caravan parks - Lenchford Meadow or Pennlake Vale Glamping are closest - and you've got a solid bit of woodland on hand without needing to drive anywhere. It pairs nicely with the Salt Trail walks around Droitwich if you want a broader day out.
