Segway & Driving Experience

You're stood in a field near Stafford watching someone wobble dangerously on a Segway for the first time. This is the Segway & Driving Experience - basically a chance to have a go at piloting one of those two-wheeled contraptions yourself, and potentially take a vehicle out on a proper course too. It's daft fun, the sort of thing that looks easier than it actually is.

The appeal is obvious if you're after something different from the usual park holiday routine. Kids love it, or at least they think they will until they're balancing on one and realizing physics has a say in the matter. Adults find it either hilarious or genuinely challenging - there's not much middle ground. You'll need a couple of hours to do both activities properly, factoring in instruction and the inevitable fails.

There's a cluster of caravan and glamping sites within easy reach - Ladybirch Motorhome Park is barely two miles away, and Copper Beech Glamping about four. Stable Park and Fledgling Farm are close enough too if you're basing yourself in the area for a few days. Stafford town itself is unremarkable, but it's convenient as a jumping-off point.

Best suited to families wanting a laugh and competitive adults who reckon they're more coordinated than they actually are. Not one to do on a rainy day - that's when the wobbling becomes genuinely dangerous. Phone ahead first though; exact opening hours aren't readily available, and you'll want to book.
