Seaton Labyrinth

The Seaton Labyrinth is a proper curiosity - a full-scale maze carved into the clifftop overlooking the Devon coast, right above the seaside town of Seaton. You walk the paths yourself, trying to reach the centre without getting hopelessly turned around. It's not enormous, so don't expect to be lost for hours, but it's a decent bit of fun if you're staying in the area.

Kids tend to enjoy it more than adults, if I'm honest. There's something satisfying about solving it without help, and the views across the bay while you're wandering about distract from the frustration of taking yet another wrong turn. The clifftop setting means you get proper coastal air and the kind of light that makes the whole thing feel more like an adventure than it probably is.

If you're based at Beer Head Holiday Park just down the road, it's worth an hour on a decent day - certainly beats sitting in the caravan if the weather's turned. The walk up from Seaton itself is manageable, though the hill's a bit steep if you're carrying young children. For those staying further out at Oakdown, it might be a touch far to justify a special trip, but combined with Seaton's beach and town, it works as a morning's outing.

No idea on the admission fees or exact opening hours - worth checking locally before you go. It's the sort of place that thrives on being uncomplicated: free to wander, no queues, just you and the maze.
