The aquarium sits right on Hunstanton's seafront, and you'll spot it immediately - all glass and modern lines facing the beach. Inside, you're walking through tanks of tropical fish, rays, seahorses, and the obligatory jellyfish that kids find absolutely mesmerising. There's a touch pool where you can handle starfish and sea urchins, which younger children tend to spend far longer at than their parents would prefer.

It's the sort of place that works best if you've got under-tens with you. Teenagers will clock it in an hour and want out. The exhibits are well-maintained and the staff know their stuff, but it's not enormous - you're not going to spend all day here. Adults without children might find it a bit lightweight, if I'm honest.

The real advantage is location. Hunstanton's a proper old-fashioned seaside town with a decent beach, and the seafront stretch has chip shops, ice cream, and a pier. If you're staying at Parkdean Resorts Manor Park or Searles Leisure Resort - both within walking distance - the aquarium slots neatly into a morning before lunch and the beach in the afternoon. It fills a gap on a rainy day better than it works as a standalone draw.

Admission's paid, naturally, and you'll need to check current prices online. Budget two hours maximum, including a browse round the gift shop. Go mid-week if possible - weekends get rammed with school groups and screaming toddlers.
