Saturn, Somerset Space Walk

There's a rather unexpected Saturn sitting in the Somerset countryside, part of what used to be an ambitious space walk that tracked the solar system across the landscape. It's a proper quirky piece of public art that catches people off guard - you'll round a corner near Taunton and suddenly there's this massive planet sculpture.

The Saturn itself is worth stopping for if you're exploring the area, though the full "walk" aspect of things seems to have faded somewhat. What you get is the chance to see this sculptural remnant and think about what once was - a walking route that mapped out the planets. It's the sort of thing that appeals to families with curious kids, or anyone who enjoys unusual roadside finds.

The nearest town is Taunton, which gives you access to decent facilities, and it sits well within reach of both 5 Acres on the Somerset Levels and The Hideout - Caravan & Camping Park, each about 5-6 miles away. Either caravan park would make a solid base for exploring this part of Somerset. You won't need more than twenty minutes here unless you're determined to track down the other planets from the original walk, which requires some effort and imagination these days.

It's free to visit and accessible as a roadside stop. Not essential, but if you're staying at one of the nearby parks and fancy something a bit different from the usual tourist trail, it's worth the small detour. Don't expect major facilities - this is very much a "stop, have a look, take a photo" sort of spot.
