Sandy Park is home to Exeter Chiefs rugby union team, and unless you're a devoted fan or have kids mad about the sport, it's honestly not much of a tourist draw on its own. The stadium itself sits just outside Exeter proper - functional, modern, lacking the architectural drama of historic grounds elsewhere in England. That said, if there's a match on during your stay at nearby Devon Heaven Hideaways or Castle Brake, it's absolutely worth considering. The atmosphere on game day is proper lively, the crowd genuinely passionate, and you'll get a genuine slice of local sporting culture rather than another heritage trail. Families with rugby-mad teenagers will have a whale of a time. For everyone else - the casual tourist, the non-sports types - you're looking at maybe twenty minutes of interest, mostly from the outside. The gift shop is decent enough if you want Exeter Chiefs kit as a souvenir. Opening times and admission vary depending on fixture schedules, so you'll need to check the Exeter Chiefs website before planning your visit. If you're staying in the area for a week and there happens to be a home game, absolutely go. If not, spend your afternoon exploring Exeter's cathedral and Georgian terraces instead - they're five minutes away and infinitely more rewarding.
