Saint Michael and All Angels' Church Bassingham

The church sits in the middle of Bassingham village like it's been there forever - and it has, with parts dating back to the 12th century. But if you're based at one of the nearby glamping parks - Spire View Meadow or Orchard Stables are both five-star affairs within a few miles - it's a decent wander from the site. There's a real sense of continuity here: ordinary people have been coming through these doors for nearly 900 years.

Allow 20 minutes if you're rushing, an hour if you're genuinely interested in medieval architecture. Weekday mornings are your best bet for avoiding any service times. Free to visit, naturally.
