Sacred Heart

The Sacred Heart sits on the edge of Wantage, a solid Victorian brick church that announces itself without fuss. It's the sort of place where you can sit quietly without anyone minding, which is rarer than it ought to be.

Worth a visit if you're into Victorian churches or local history, but don't expect to spend hours here. Thirty minutes maximum, unless you're seriously into ecclesiastical architecture. It works best as part of a walking circuit around Wantage itself - the market town has enough independent shops and decent pubs to make a proper afternoon of it.

Free entry, naturally, and opening times are typically standard church hours - though it's worth checking locally before making a special trip.
