The paths around the perimeter are easy going, taking about an hour for a full loop depending on your pace, and you'll spot waterfowl and the occasional fisherman casting from the banks. On a clear day the views across the water are decent enough, though it's not going to stop you in your tracks. Families with younger kids might find it a bit quiet - there's no playground nonsense or attractions, just water and trees. That's either exactly what you want or a recipe for boredom.

It's free to visit and open to the public year-round, though spring and autumn probably suit it best when the woodland colours up. Don't expect facilities beyond a car park.
