Run Free Dog Fields

A sprawling off-lead space just outside Newbridge where your dog can actually be a dog - that's Run Free Dog Fields in a nutshell. It's an open grassland area designed specifically for dogs to charge about without a lead, chase a ball, paddle in the water, and generally lose their minds in the way only a dog can when given proper freedom.

You get several different fields here, which means you can rotate through them depending on how muddy things get or whether your dog needs a quieter corner. There's water on site too, brilliant if you've got a spaniel or any breed that thinks every puddle is an invitation. The space is genuinely generous - no cramped, worn-out rectangle pretending to be a dog park.

It's ideal for anyone staying at Linwater Caravan Park, which is just down the road. If you've got energetic dogs and you're planning a week in the Lowlands, this takes the pressure off finding places where they can properly exercise. Honestly, your dog will sleep better after a couple of hours here than anywhere else.

The whole thing seems to run on a fairly informal basis - no obvious gate fees that I could find, though it's worth checking before you visit. Allow a solid two hours if your dog's the type to make the most of it. Go midweek if you can; weekends can get a bit rammed with other dogs.
