Families with patient kids will manage fine; those expecting a scenic ramble might feel shortchanged by the industrial backdrop.

The best time is definitely October through March when the numbers are highest. Tides matter here - low water reveals more of the flats and makes spotting easier. Check the tidal times before you go; high tide can squeeze you into the road.
