It's the sort of place that appeals to people who want a proper walk without committing to an all-day slog. Families with older kids will manage it fine. The real charm is in the landscape rather than any particular feature at the summit - you get the sense of being up here rather than just visiting a viewpoint.

Gillcumber Glamping Pods, barely two miles away, makes this a no-brainer if you're basing yourself nearby. Wild Rose Holiday Park is further out but still within reasonable striking distance if you're doing the wider Pennine circuit.
