River Church St Neots

The church sits right on the riverbank in St Neots, which is rather the whole point. Most parish churches you visit feel tucked away from life, but this one is genuinely integrated with the town - you can stand in the churchyard and watch the Great Ouse drift past. It's a medieval structure that's been knocked about a bit over the centuries but retains proper character.

Inside it's all soaring stone and that particular quiet that only old churches manage. The river views from certain angles are lovely, and if you've got restless kids they at least get something more interesting to look at than pews. The graveyard is worth a wander too - there are some decent old monuments and it's peaceful in a way the high street definitely isn't.

Historically minded visitors will appreciate the medieval foundations, though I'd be honest - you won't spend more than thirty to forty minutes here before you've seen what there is to see. This works best as part of a larger St Neots walk rather than a destination in itself. The town has decent riverside pubs and a market square worth exploring.
