Ring-tailed Coati

There's a rather peculiar bronze sculpture lurking near Newbridge - a ring-tailed coati that looks thoroughly out of place in the Scottish Lowlands. This isn't some grand monument; it's an odd, wonderful piece of public art that catches you off guard if you're driving through.

The coati itself is rendered in gleaming metal, its distinctive striped tail curled upward in that characteristic pose. You'd be forgiven for wondering what a South American creature is doing here, but that's rather the point. It's become something of a talking point for folks passing through, especially families who find it darkly amusing that such an exotic beast has taken up residence in Scotland.
