Rinagree Coastal Park

The coastal cliffs around Rinagree rise up properly dramatic when you crest the headland - dark basalt columns stacked like nature's own honeycomb, with the Atlantic grinding away below. This is a working nature reserve rather than a manicured spot, which means you get genuine wildness: seabirds nesting in spring, rough grassland that hasn't seen a strimmer in months, and views that stretch across to Rathlin Island on a clear day.

Walkers will find this worth the trip from Bushmills, about fifteen minutes' drive along the B15. The paths are variable - some are well-trodden, others require decent boots and confidence on uneven ground. You're looking at anything from a half-hour potter to a couple of hours if you want to explore the full coastal stretch. Bring binoculars if you're into birdwatching; the reserve takes that side seriously.

The best light is late afternoon when the sun catches those columns, though avoid windy days if you're not steady on the clifftops.
