About Reynards Hill
This is a walker's spot, plain and simple. Children will manage it fine if they're used to a gentle ramble, though there's not much to distract them once you're halfway up - no ice cream vans or viewpoint cafes. The ridge itself is open ground, so you're exposed to the weather, which means it can feel bleak in winter but absolutely glorious on a sunny spring morning.
Go on a weekday if you can. Weekends bring enough people that the quiet rather goes out of it. Allow two hours for a round trip if you're not rushing, and wear proper boots - it gets muddy after rain. The summit isn't spectacularly high, but there's something satisfying about reaching it.
If you're staying at one of the glamping spots nearby - The Green Escape or Surrey Hills Yurts are both within easy reach - Reynards Hill makes an excellent morning outing before breakfast. It's the sort of walk that reminds you why people move to Surrey in the first place.
