It's a straightforward affair, the kind of place where you can wander around enclosures and watch the animals go about their day. The walking is gentle and flat, so it's fine for buggies and anyone not keen on tramping about.

Somerset Glamping is nearby if you're after a bit of countryside glamour - five miles away is close enough for a morning visit before heading back for lunch under canvas. It's not a full day's entertainment on its own, so you'd want to pair it with something else in the Bristol area. The red deer themselves are worth seeing, particularly if you're keen on native British wildlife, but don't expect the variety or scale of a major zoo. It's more 'local spot' than 'destination attraction', which isn't necessarily a criticism. Sometimes that's exactly what you need.
