The gallery sits in a converted Victorian building on the outskirts of Hillsborough, and it's the sort of place that catches you off guard. Kids would probably get restless after thirty minutes unless there's a particularly interactive show on. The building itself is worth a look even if the current exhibition doesn't grab you - high ceilings, decent natural light, the bones of something proper.

Hillsborough itself is a pleasant village with good cafes and a castle worth a wander, so you can easily spend a couple of hours in the area without feeling you've made a special trip just for the gallery.
