This fell rises sharply from the valley floor just south of Cockermouth, and on a clear day the views back towards the Lake District peaks are genuinely stunning. There's no entry fee and you can show up whenever, though early morning or late afternoon light transforms the views. The ground can get boggy after rain, so pick your day carefully.
