Quip & Curiosity is a proper little art gallery tucked away in Cambridge that punches well above its weight. The space focuses on contemporary work and experimental pieces - the kind of thing that makes you think rather than just look pretty on a wall. You'll find painting, sculpture, and installations rotating through regularly, which means it's worth revisiting if you're in the area more than once.

It's ideal for anyone who wants something beyond the college museums and Fitzwilliam crowds. Art students and actual artists seem to frequent it, which tells you the work is taken seriously. The gallery itself is intimate - you won't spend three hours here, but that's rather the point. Budget 45 minutes to an hour unless you get properly absorbed in a particular show.

If you're staying at one of the nearby parks - Bounds or Gayton Farm are both excellent for families - this makes a decent rainy-day outing or a quiet morning before tackling the busier Cambridge attractions.
