Queen Street Park

The path into Queen Street Park from central Buckie is unremarkable until you're actually in it - then the whole thing opens up into something genuinely worth a detour. It's a proper nature reserve, the kind where you're more likely to spot something interesting than at half the tourist traps charging entry fees.

You're looking at woodlands and open grassland, decent for a walk if you're based nearby or passing through Aberdeenshire. The reserve works well for families who want their kids burning off energy without the crowds you get at managed attractions. Walkers appreciate it too - there's enough ground to cover without it feeling exhausting. Birdwatchers will find it more rewarding than the casual visitor, mind you. If you're after dramatic Highland scenery, this isn't it. If you want a proper green space to stretch your legs, it delivers.

No idea if there's an entry fee - the place doesn't seem to have much of an online presence. Worth ringing ahead if you need facilities sorted. Give yourself an hour minimum, longer if you've got the time and want to actually look at what's living there.

It slots nicely into a longer trip around Buckie rather than being a standalone reason to visit. Greencraig Pods is only a couple of miles away, so it works as a morning activity if you're camped there. The North East coast around Buckie has enough going on that you'd want several days to do it justice anyway.
