Putt Wood

A proper woodland walk rather than a manicured tourist spot, Putt Wood sits just outside Faversham and gives you genuine forest floor - the kind where you actually notice the quiet. It's small enough that you won't spend hours here, maybe 45 minutes to an hour if you dawdle, but that's rather the point. The trees are dense, paths wind through without any of that artificial trail-marking business, and it feels like you've actually stepped away rather than ticked a box.

Walkers will appreciate it more than families with tiny children - the terrain's uneven in places and there's no café at the end promising an ice cream. If you're staying at Painters Farm Camping Site just down the road, it's an easy morning stroll. Seasalter Holiday Park is further out, but still within striking distance if you fancy a bit of woodland between beach days.

Bring decent shoes. The place isn't grand or Instagram-worthy, which is exactly why it works. No crowds, no entrance fees to speak of, just trees and the kind of stillness you don't get in Kent's more polished corners. It's not a full day's activity, but as a break from park life or something to fill a couple of hours before lunch in Faversham, it's exactly what the doctor ordered.
