About Priory Park
The park itself is decent for a decent walk. There are paths through the trees, open areas where the meadow's come back in. Birdwatchers come here quite a bit, and in spring the place gets proper carpeted with bluebells. It won't take you hours - an hour or so does it comfortably - but it's exactly the sort of pocket nature reserve that works brilliantly if you're staying at one of the nearby camps like Radwell Lake or Henlow Bridge Lakes. You can knock it off in the morning, have lunch in Hitchin, and still have the afternoon free.
The reserve is free. No visitor centre, no cafe, no pretence. Just you, the trees, and some very old stones. Bring decent shoes if the ground's wet - it can get boggy in places. Families with young kids will get an hour out of it; serious walkers and history types will hang around longer. It's not flashy, but it's proper.
