The Prince Rupert gallery in Kidderminster is housed in a proper Georgian building that's easy to walk past if you're not paying attention - which would be a shame. Inside, it's small but purposeful, with rotating exhibitions that lean towards local artists and regional heritage rather than trying to be a mini-National Gallery.

You're looking at maybe an hour here, possibly ninety minutes if you're the type to read every label. The ground floor usually has the main exhibition space, and there's often something worth stopping for - textile work (Kidderminster's weaving legacy looms large), contemporary pieces by Midlands-based artists, occasional photography.

It's the sort of place that appeals to culture-minded visitors and local art enthusiasts rather than families with restless kids, though teenagers interested in art and design might find it interesting. Entry is free, which removes any pressure to justify the visit if you only stay twenty minutes.

If you're based at Wolverley Camping and Caravanning Club Site just outside town, the Prince Rupert makes for a decent rainy-day stop - you're barely a ten-minute walk from the town centre. It won't be the highlight of your park holiday, but paired with a proper look around Kidderminster's Georgian architecture and the river walks, you've got a perfectly decent half-day sorted. The building itself is worth photographing, even if the current exhibition doesn't grab you.
