It's not a destination in itself, frankly. You won't spend hours here unless you're genuinely after research materials or fancy settling in with a book. But if you're staying at nearby Cambridgeshire Lakes - excellent spot, that one - and you're passing through Sandy anyway, worth popping in to pick up a novel or check what's on locally. The staff are helpful and it's the sort of place that tells you what a town's actually about, beyond the tourist trails.

The real value is practical. Free lending if you've got a library card, reasonable opening hours for a small facility, and it connects you to what Sandy residents actually do. Families with young kids might appreciate story times or children's sections if they're staying in the area for a week. Walkers passing through on their way to or from the lakes will find it a pleasant shelter on a wet afternoon. Just don't expect bells and whistles. This is community infrastructure, done properly.
