Potterhill Wood

A 23-acre woodland tucked away near Newark that feels like your own discovery the moment you arrive. Potterhill Wood isn't some manicured nature trail - it's proper wild in places, with ancient trees, wet woodland areas, and a network of paths that meander through the sort of undergrowth that makes you feel genuinely away from it all.

You'll spend a good hour here exploring, though two is better if you're not in a rush. The paths are manageable but can get boggy after rain, so decent boots matter. Spring brings bluebells and bird activity that justifies binoculars; autumn's the other winner, when the canopy colours are outstanding.
