Bushey Hall Park is only a few miles away, making this a convenient addition to a week's worth of wandering around Hertfordshire. North Hill Farm, near Radlett, would work equally well as a hub for exploring the wider countryside here.

Timing-wise, there's no strict opening hours to worry about - you can head up at dawn or dusk depending on what suits. Best avoided during midweek commuter chaos when Watford itself grinds to a halt, and frankly the views are better from an early morning visit before the day gets hazy.
