Posingford Wood

A proper woodland walk near Edenbridge, Posingford Wood is the sort of place you stumble upon rather than plan for - dense enough to feel like proper forest, small enough that you won't spend half the day tramping about. The paths wind through mature trees and the floor is thick with leaf litter and moss, which is lovely in autumn but can get squelchy after rain.

It's ideal for families with younger kids who need a quick leg-stretch without committing to an all-day hike. You can be in and out in an hour, or dawdle for two if the mood takes. Walkers will find it decent but not spectacular - it's the kind of wood that's good for clearing your head rather than providing dramatic views or rare species sightings. History buffs won't find much to grab onto either.

The whole area around Edenbridge has decent walking infrastructure, and it pairs well with staying at somewhere like Luna Domes Luxury Glamping, where you can do a woodland stomp in the morning and be back with time to settle in properly. Go mid-week if you can - weekends see a fair bit of foot traffic and it loses some of its tranquility.

Free to access. No facilities on-site, so bring water. Best in spring when the woodland floor comes alive, or late autumn when the light filters through nicely. Summer can feel a bit enclosed and buggy.
