Plumtree Pinfold

A pinfold is basically a pound for stray livestock - a medieval holding pen where wandering animals got locked up until their owners paid to retrieve them. Plumtree's version is one of the few still standing, a squat stone structure that sits right in the village centre near Nottingham, and it's genuinely the kind of thing that stops you dead when you realise how old it actually is.

There's not much to do here beyond having a proper look at the stonework and reading whatever information board is attached, so don't expect a day-long visit.
