Pinner Baptist Church

The red brick chapel on Pinner High Street is a working Baptist church that's been serving the community since the 1830s. It's modest, unpretentious, and frankly easy to walk past if you're not looking for it - which is rather the point. The interior is simple but genuinely moving: whitewashed walls, wooden pews, stained glass that catches the light properly rather than screaming for attention. You'll get far more from stepping inside during a service than gawping at it from outside.

It's really for people who actually care about local history or church architecture rather than casual sightseers. If you're staying at one of the nearby parks - Aldenham Country Park is only 3.3 miles away - and you've got an hour spare on a Sunday morning, it's a decent addition to a walk around Pinner village itself. The high street has proper independent shops and decent pubs, so you can make a morning of it.

Admission should be free, though you'll want to check opening times before you head over since it's not a tourist attraction per se. Go in the afternoon on a weekday if you want to look around quietly, or catch a Sunday service if you want to see the place as it's meant to be. Either way, don't expect grandeur - that's not what this place is about.
