Paws 2 Run

A dog-lover's pit stop rather than a destination in its own right, Paws 2 Run sits just outside Wigton and caters almost entirely to people travelling with four-legged companions. It's basically a rest area where dogs can stretch their legs, burn off energy, and generally have a proper run about while you grab a coffee or a bite. The setup is straightforward - open ground, enough space for dogs to actually move without tangling leads with a dozen other pets, and the kind of practical amenities you'd expect from a service stop.

You're not looking at more than 20 or 30 minutes here unless your dog's particularly antisocial and needs a long cool-down. It works brilliantly if you're en route to somewhere else - say, between Hoddom Castle Caravan Park and the rest of Dumfries & Galloway - but it's not worth a special journey on its own. Families with energetic dogs will appreciate the break mid-drive; older pets or lap dogs might find it underwhelming.

If you're based at Cressfield Caravan Park or Glendale Holiday Park and fancy a day out with the dog, this fits neatly into a wider ramble around the area rather than standing alone. The Lowlands have proper walks and genuine attractions. Paws 2 Run is the functional bit that makes getting between them easier, not the reason you've driven to Scotland.
