Parkside Windmill

There's not much left of Parkside Windmill, to be honest. What you're looking at is a brick base and some fragmentary stonework from a structure that once ground corn for the local area, somewhere in the Windsor and Maidenhead region near Henley-on-Thames. The windmill itself has long gone - this is archaeology rather than a standing building you can climb or explore inside.

It's the kind of spot that appeals to people properly interested in industrial history and local heritage rather than casual visitors after a photo opportunity. If you're walking the Thames Path or doing a broader ramble through Henley's countryside, you might stumble across it and find the remains genuinely interesting. The setting matters more than the ruins themselves - you get a sense of where someone chose to build and work, what the landscape once supported.

With Swiss Farm and Henley Four Oaks caravan sites both under a mile away, it's easy enough to visit if you're camping in the area. Allow maybe 20 minutes if you know where to look, longer if you're hunting it down. There's no visitor infrastructure - no cafe, no interpretation boards - so you need to go in with modest expectations and ideally some prior knowledge of what you're looking at.

Worthy of a detour? Only if you're already in Henley and keen on industrial archaeology. Otherwise, your time's better spent on the riverside walks or the proper attractions nearby.
